Causa rellena

(Serves 5 people)

  • 8 yellow peppers
  • 1 kg potatoes
  • 3 lemons
  • 60 ml vegetable oil
  • salt and pepper
  • 250 g chicken
  • 1 green pepper
  • 100 g mayonnaise
  • 1 avocado
  • 1 carrot
  • olives
  • 2 eggs


  1. Boil the potatoes with a little salt to prevent them from falling apart. Peel the potatoes when they are still warm, mash them and then press them.
  2. Prepare the yellow pepper sauce: remove the seeds and veins, cut the yellow peppers and boil them until they become soft, remove their shells and blend the yellow peppers.
  3. Add the oil, the lemon juice, pepper, salt and the yellow pepper sauce to the pressed potatoes. Mix very well by kneading the dough with your hands. 
  4. Boil the chicken, carrots and the green pepper with a little salt (do not overcooked the carrots). Then, remove them from the water, chop the carrot and the green pepper into squares and shred the chicken.
  5. Mix the shredded chicken, the carrots´ squares and the mayonnaise. 
  6. Take a portion of the potatoes´ dough and cover the bottom of a glass mold with it . Place the avocado slices over the dough. 
  7. Add another small portion of dough and place the mixture of mayonnaise, chicken and carrots and the green pepper squares over the dough. 
  8. Cover with the remaining dough. 
  9. Put one slide of a boiled egg and some olives over the final layer.
